How Can I Access Food Support?

Who is eligible? Anyone can access our food support. You do not need to be receiving Centrelink. Every person is welcome.

How do I apply? Message us on Facebook, call 1300 934 483, or visit one of our community pantries. Provide your full name, the number of people in your household, and whether you need home delivery or can pick up.

How often can I receive a hamper? We can provide a free hamper every 8 weeks per household.

What Items Do You Accept as Donations?

  • New clothing (all sizes and ages)
  • Unused and unopened toiletries (male and female)
  • Non-perishable food still in date
  • Make-up and personal care items
  • $30 teen vouchers
  • New toys for children aged 1-12 (male and female)
  • Monetary donations (over $2 are tax-deductible)

Can I Donate Food?

Yes! We work closely with partners like OzHarvest, Foodbank, and Second Bite to rescue quality surplus food and redistribute it to people in need. If you have excess food, please contact us to discuss donation options.

Do I Need to Prove Centrelink Eligibility?

No. Anyone can shop with us and access our services. We don't require any income verification or proof of receiving government benefits. Our door is open to anyone facing hardship.

How Can I Volunteer?

We're always happy to welcome new volunteers! Email us at info@southlakesincorporated.org with:

  • A list of your skills
  • What days you're available
  • The location you want to volunteer at

All volunteers need a valid Working With Children Check. We provide full training—no prior experience required.

What Is the Community Hair Project?

Our innovative Community Hair Project provides free professional haircuts to people in need. It's more than just a haircut—it's about confidence, dignity, and belonging. To date, we've provided over 60,000 free haircuts. If you're a qualified hairdresser interested in volunteering, we'd love to hear from you.

How Do You Use Donations?

Every dollar donated goes directly to supporting vulnerable Australians. Donations help us:

  • Provide emergency food hampers
  • Purchase clothing and essential items
  • Run the Community Hair Project
  • Support administrative costs
  • Expand services to more communities

Are Donations Tax-Deductible?

Yes! Southlake's Incorporated is endorsed as a Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR). Donations of $2 or more are tax-deductible. We're registered with the ACNC under ABN 64 244 071 721.
